Karishma's Story

I took an interest in cooking at a very young age. Since then I have enjoyed helping my mom in the kitchen. She taught me how to cook in her own way, which was by "eye-balling" the spices and ingredients. Eventually, this helped me to understand the spices in a unique way. This is why I can't follow recipes and I always end up tweaking them to my taste. I encourage you to do that as well. Just experiment away and you'll be surprised with the end result [hopefully in a good way].

The Mess I Make's Story

I am a nurse by profession and a chef at heart. Since I'm passionate about my profession, I will be going to graduate school in Fall 2014 to get my Master of Science in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner degree to further my nursing career. I am equally passionate about cooking and use it as my creative outlet. My hubby encouraged the idea of starting this blog and continues to support me throughout the way. He actually came up with the name for this blog because when I'm cooking, I spill, splash, burn myself and accidentally break things -- basically I'm clumsy, but I'm embracing it!

Just like any food blogger, I love to eat. I grew up eating meat but now I'm a vegetarian. I have learned to incorporate healthy proteins in the food I eat and I plan on sharing those with you through my recipes. Whenever I'm inspired by food, I write it down in a small diary that I carry with me all the time, and then I attempt to recreate it in my own way. I really enjoy sharing my food stories and love getting inspiration from fellow food bloggers. Hope The Mess I Make inspires you to cook today!
