From museum hopping in Paris and Rome to walking miles and miles daily, we needed a little break and to slow down. Cinque Terre was the perfect destination for that. Cinque Terre (Chin-qua Terr-a), aka five villages: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. We stayed in Monterosso which was super adorable.
We stayed at Hotel Pasquale. It was the super adorable and this was the view from our room. I couldn't get over the fact that we woke up to this beautiful scene every morning, well two mornings, but still.
The sound of waves crashing against the rocks was so calming. I normally sleep with ear plugs and an eye mask because of a habit I picked up when I worked night shift. But while we were in Monterosso, I ditched the ear plugs to enjoy falling asleep to this beautiful calming sound. It was so peaceful and serene.
I loved the small town feel, walking down the small streets and the gorgeous view was a bonus.
We kept seeing lemons everywhere! I decided to stop at a small shop to get lemonade, which was pretty intense in flavor but so refreshing. They have an annual lemon festival each year in May. I wish we were there for that. I could only imagine the amounts of limoncello people consume during this festival.
This very patient gentleman was fishing for Bass for dinner.
Now THIS was the highlight of visiting Cinque Terre. Focaccia and Pesto all day, everyday! More on pesto in another post...stay tuned.
I tried packing light and only took a comfortable pair flat loafers and a pair of flat sandals. But I beige was just the wrong color and these shoes are done-zos from all the dirt and mud from rainy days. Now I get to buy a new pair of shoes! Yippie!
This view, focaccia al pesto sandwich and live music. I did not want my sandwich to end...it was divine!!
