Edamame with Matcha Salt

February 13, 2014 Karishma

Remember the vegetarian ramen I made with matcha noodles? Well, the matcha obsession continues. Instead of using plain sea salt for the edamame pods, I added matcha to it. This instantly made my mid-afternoon snack extra special.

Ingredients

1/8 tsp sea salt
1/8 tsp matcha powder
1 cup edamame pods
marter and pestle

Steps

  1. If you have raw edamame, then blanch them in a pot of boiling water for about 5 minutes and drain out the water. Trader Joe’s sells already blanched edamame pods in their refrigerated section so all you need to do to those is microwave for 30 seconds or eat them cold.
  2. Put the sea salt and matcha powder in the marter and gentle swirl around the pestle to incorporate the sea salt and matcha.
  3. Sprinkle the matcha salt on cold or warm blanched edamame pods and enjoy! FYI: You only eat the beans by gently sucking them out of the pods into your mouth and then discard the shells.
