Breakfast Smoothie Bowl

February 17, 2015 Karishma

The other day my sister sent me a text swooning over a breakfast smoothie she made. She insisted that I should make it right away to experience the goodness of this delectable smoothie. I was drooling just from reading the list of ingredients she used and could not wait to make it myself! Inspired by Heidi's Instagram feed of smoothie bowls, I decided to add ice so I could eat it as a breakfast smoothie/soupy situation. Alas, you can eat drink your smoothie and eat it too!

Persimmon Pudding

I never quite knew what to do with them when I was first introduced to them. Recently, I have been seeing more and more recipes where this delicious, beloved fruit is incorporated. Just the other day my hubby sent me this New York Times article on Thanksgiving dishes around the country. And voilà another persimmon dish! Indiana is my hubby's American hometown (actual hometown is in India) and it just happens so that Indiana's Thanksgiving dish is Persimmon Pudding!! Of course my hubby couldn't stop talking about it. And in his adorable ways he kept hinting me to make this pudding. Of course, I had to make his hometown's Thanksgiving dish for him. He is a cutie and I love making food that makes him happy.

Chocolate Chip Shortbread Cookies

These cookies are the answer to everything. They're buttery, chocolatey with just the right amount of salt and sugar. I've made these several times already and finally got around to posting the recipe. The original recipe is by Natasha from The Cake Merchant and the only modification I made was the addition of salt and excluding the dipping the cookies in chocolate part.

Strawberry Tart

This is The Mess I Make’s take on Sprouted Kitchen‘s Summer Peach Tart. I’ve been wanting to make this tart since I laid my eyes on it and the day has finally arrived. I decided to make this for my sister-in-law’s birthday since she’s not a huge fan of cake. Since peaches aren’t in season, I decided to go with strawberries. I wish persimmons were still around because they would have made a great replacement. Oh well, I’ll have to make this tart again in the fall.

Pistachio-Goji Berry Granola

Granola is a great way to not only add fiber to your diet but also adds a great crunch in your yogurt. This granola recipe from Love and Lemons is super delicious. I especially love the colors of the pistachios and goji berries. The use of coconut oil in this granola adds a scrumptious flavor while adding tremendous health benefits such as boosting your metabolism, blood sugar control and it is a heart healthy fat when eaten in moderation, of course. Goji berries are packed with anti-oxidants so they're considered a superfood and super good for you.
